MotoGP related projects are always particularly exciting for Vroom Media – and this is especially the case with Oral Moto, a new Moto3 engine manufacturer and supplier for whom Vroom has created a complete brand identity system and online presence.
The relationship with Oral Moto is a close one, being part of a more extensive partnership with the Two Wheel Design Group – Oral Moto’s parent company and a wider player in both MotoGP projects and motorcycle technology and engineering generally.
Vroom also created the brand identity for the Two Wheel Design Group itself – as well as for all its companies and sub brands, including Oral Moto, ECO2, PET (Progressive Engine Technologies), Media Management& Merchandising, and Future Scooter 2020. This work has been going on since February of this year, and the public launch of Oral Moto via the new Oral Moto website – also designed and built by Vroom Media – is the first real visibility people will have of the collaboration.
Oral Moto is developing from scratch its own purpose-built race engine for use in the Moto3 world championship in 2012; which is also designed to fit existing 125cc 2-stroke chassis (such as the Aprilia RSA and RSW and the Honda RS125) that would otherwise become redundant in the forthcoming season.
The company uses Oral Engineering – a company with a long and rich heritage in engine design and production – as its engineering and manufacturing partner, and is headed up by the legendary Mauro Forghieri of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti fame, and Graham Harris, former Team Principal of the 2010 Lambretta Reparto Corse MotoGP squad.
The identity for Oral Moto has pulled brand DNA from Oral Engineering’s logo, and developed it into one of a system of lozenge shaped icons that are shared amongst the Two Wheel Design Group companies, based on a very specific approach to brand architecture – so that all sit together with a single style of graphic design and shared colour planning, as well as working as high-impact standalone identities.
The Oral Moto website has been built as a clean corporate project which reflects the brand identity and communicates Oral’s mission both on the pages and via social media integration, but is also designed from the ground up for expansion; and which as well as carrying all the basic public information will be developed to deliver more company news and client information as Oral Moto’s projects across different motorcycle championships develop.
The Oral Moto brand identity work, and indeed the overall relationship with the Two Wheel Design Group, is a good one for Vroom Media; extending its presence in the MotoGP arena as well as being a strong, dynamic piece of design in its own right.
Gareth Bouch: Director, Vroom Media Limited
“I’m delighted with being able to work with the Two Wheel Design Group, and particularly pleased with being able to deliver identities for the likes of Oral Moto.
MotoGP is an absolute passion for me, and also an area where I’d like to drive more of Vroom’s business in future, so the opportunity to work with 2WDG and Oral Moto is an excellent one.
The overall brand development project has been a slow burner; work beginning back near the start of 2011 when Graham and I first met up. But it’s been a pleasure so far – I’m really proud of the simplicity and strength of the whole group identity system – and I’m confident it’ll continue to be a great and developing relationship between our companies with more great designs to come out along the way.
I think a measure of my faith in all this is the fact that – as eagle eyed geeks may already have noticed – I actually rebranded Vroom Media some months ago based on sharing the exact same fundamental brand system as 2WDG and Oral Moto!”
