Vroom Media’s latest piece of online work is the overhaul of the website of the Finland Australia Chamber of Commerce (FACC).

Vroom was commissioned on a two-pronged approach: firstly, to undertake a speedy overhaul and deployment of the website – bringing it up to date with a new look and feel as well as building in sophisticated Calendar and Social functions – and secondly to update the organisation’s slightly dated and pedestrian logo with a view to further brand development.

The logo was revised from a “roundel” based version with drop shadows and indistinct typography to a far more impactful design which still retains original DNA from the main ident; a hybrid emblem combining the shape of Australia and the Finnish flag. This emblem has been strengthened with outlining and sheared to the right by 15 degrees to deliver a new ident full of energy and thoroughly modern, whilst typography has been revisited in both font choices and layout within the logo system to again deliver something utterly contemporary and appropriate to the organisation.

The FACC website was based on a brief that required a clean, sleek, modern design with instant access to smart events management and the building in of social sharing, along with downloadable forms, sponsor placements and contact forms. The site will continue to be developed to fulfill the needs of FACC members as time goes on.

Established in 2002 the Finland Australia Chamber of Commerce Inc. (FACC) supports trade, commerce and investment between Australia and Finland. Its network of members includes leading companies, experienced business people and representatives of government who are all committed to strengthening links between the two countries and realising business opportunities.

Our most recent work with The Infographics Agency sees the light of today, at the DTG (Digital Television Group) Summit 2012.

We were engaged by the DTG to produce branded works to illustrate the state of play in the digital TV industry for its annual summit in the form of a series of slides playing out across the event, and a special summary infographic of those slides.
To cater for a number of options in output and display we provided a complete service in both 16:9 and 4:3 formats, comprising sets of images and stylised Powerpoint decks built from scratch for each aspect ratio.

Working closely with the DTG and key data providers, we delivered a thoroughly onbrand and striking breakdown of trends and statistics in the ever-developing arena of digital and connected TV.

The latest project launched by Vroom Media is the combined rebranding and online overhaul of the Young Riders Fund, an organisation supported by race fans and corporate sponsors to help finance and assist the careers of talented up and coming riders.

The YRF’s aims are simple: to identify young, up and coming riders and help them as they take their first steps towards a racing career: The fund currently supports two riders – Josh Elliott and Niall Campbell. Supporters are all like-minded race fans who donate small amounts of cash from their own pockets whenever they wish to help these youngsters meet the increasing costs of racing, a huge problem across motorcycle racing and motorsport in general worldwide.

The Young Riders Fund asked Vroom Media to undertake a twofold project: overhauling the organisation’s branding with the aim of making it more modern, clean and professional – something that would be created with trackside presence and instant recognition in mind, and easily reproduced for many media such as online, banners, clothing and so-on – as well being a logo that not only appealed to race fans but would also convey gravity and professionalism to potential sponsors, and secondly to launch a new website at youngridersfund.org to act as an equally professional hub to the YRF’s online operations.

While the website will act as a central point for information, news updates and donations, it also connects the YRF’s various online social channels such as Twitter and Facebook. The site has been built with fully social integration in mind, but is also designed to show off the new branding to full effect and to elegantly lay out the organisation’s aims and to act as a rider portfolio too.

Meanwhile the identity system has been designed from scratch to be clean and flexible, with maximum future-proofing and versioning for different outputs. Emphasis has been put both on an elegant ‘YRF’ logotype and a bikesport emblem that can be combined in different ways to remain absolutely solid and consistent, yet still allow for many different layouts and applications, and also different colour-planning; crucial when the identity may need to work with a particular team livery for instance.

Gareth Bouch: Director, Vroom Media
“I’m delighted that Vroom was asked to do this work, and I really hope that we can do lots more for the Young Riders Fund in future too, working with them on an ongoing basis to help them deliver on all things graphic, branded and online.
It’s great to be involved with an organisation like the Young Riders Fund, as it’s not only about bike racing but it’s also a genuinely good cause. In these times it’s hard to fund a racing career – costs across the sport continue to increase – and the idea of a special funding organisation backed by race fans and enthusiastic backers from the business world to help fund the best up and coming talent is just excellent.
I’d like to wish Niall and Josh the very best of luck in their 2012 seasons and I thoroughly look forward to following their progress and cheering them on across the year.”

Lee Vasey: Young Riders Fund
“We had asked Vroom Media to help The Young Riders Fund with our website and re-brand, to create something with a bit of impact and style that would still capture the sport of motorcycle racing. From the word go, the communication with Vroom Media has been excellent. We were kept in the loop on updates, changes and progress, and were asked for feedback every step of the way. We are very happy with the results, and look forward to continuing future work with Vroom Media. They have shown nothing but support for The Young Riders Fund. Thank You.”

MotoGP related projects are always particularly exciting for Vroom Media – and this is especially the case with Oral Moto, a new Moto3 engine manufacturer and supplier for whom Vroom has created a complete brand identity system and online presence.

The relationship with Oral Moto is a close one, being part of a more extensive partnership with the Two Wheel Design Group – Oral Moto’s parent company and a wider player in both MotoGP projects and motorcycle technology and engineering generally.

Vroom also created the brand identity for the Two Wheel Design Group itself – as well as for all its companies and sub brands, including Oral Moto, ECO2, PET (Progressive Engine Technologies), Media Management& Merchandising, and Future Scooter 2020. This work has been going on since February of this year, and the public launch of Oral Moto via the new Oral Moto website – also designed and built by Vroom Media – is the first real visibility people will have of the collaboration.

Oral Moto is developing from scratch its own purpose-built race engine for use in the Moto3 world championship in 2012; which is also designed to fit existing 125cc 2-stroke chassis (such as the Aprilia RSA and RSW and the Honda RS125) that would otherwise become redundant in the forthcoming season.
The company uses Oral Engineering – a company with a long and rich heritage in engine design and production – as its engineering and manufacturing partner, and is headed up by the legendary Mauro Forghieri of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti fame, and Graham Harris, former Team Principal of the 2010 Lambretta Reparto Corse MotoGP squad.

The identity for Oral Moto has pulled brand DNA from Oral Engineering’s logo, and developed it into one of a system of lozenge shaped icons that are shared amongst the Two Wheel Design Group companies, based on a very specific approach to brand architecture – so that all sit together with a single style of graphic design and shared colour planning, as well as working as high-impact standalone identities.

The Oral Moto website has been built as a clean corporate project which reflects the brand identity and communicates Oral’s mission both on the pages and via social media integration, but is also designed from the ground up for expansion; and which as well as carrying all the basic public information will be developed to deliver more company news and client information as Oral Moto’s projects across different motorcycle championships develop.

The Oral Moto brand identity work, and indeed the overall relationship with the Two Wheel Design Group, is a good one for Vroom Media; extending its presence in the MotoGP arena as well as being a strong, dynamic piece of design in its own right.

Gareth Bouch: Director, Vroom Media Limited
“I’m delighted with being able to work with the Two Wheel Design Group, and particularly pleased with being able to deliver identities for the likes of Oral Moto.
MotoGP is an absolute passion for me, and also an area where I’d like to drive more of Vroom’s business in future, so the opportunity to work with 2WDG and Oral Moto is an excellent one.
The overall brand development project has been a slow burner; work beginning back near the start of 2011 when Graham and I first met up. But it’s been a pleasure so far – I’m really proud of the simplicity and strength of the whole group identity system – and I’m confident it’ll continue to be a great and developing relationship between our companies with more great designs to come out along the way.
I think a measure of my faith in all this is the fact that – as eagle eyed geeks may already have noticed – I actually rebranded Vroom Media some months ago based on sharing the exact same fundamental brand system as 2WDG and Oral Moto!”

A minor diversion in our company blog, here’s a nice mid-season interview with one of our faves – Aussie Casey Stoner. If he was Spanish or Brit, we’d have been able to use this on one of our main MotoGP sites. But we can’t. But – dammit – we like Casey a lot, so thanks to Repsol Media, we’ll bung it up here instead.
Enjoy!

Leader of the MotoGP World Championship with five victories in ten races, Casey Stoner has started his first season at the Repsol Honda Team taking the initiative in his tough battle with Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo. The victory in his first Grand Prix with the Spanish energy company livery was the best sign of the Australian rider’s hunger for victory, and he will arrive to the Czech Republic with an advantage of 20 points at the top of the MotoGP World Championship.

Five victories and four more podiums in 10 races. It does not sound bad at all for a first half of the season, does it?
“Yes. I think that without the problem of the second race, we would have been in the podium in all races this season, which I believe is something very special. I am very happy this year at the Repsol Honda Team. The bike has been working brilliantly and even in the worst days it did not work poorly. This is something very positive. When we have the opportunity to win we are always there, very close, and that gives us the chance to win more often”.

Which race do you prefer from the ones held until now with the Repsol Honda?
“I would say that my favourite race this season was, undoubtedly, Laguna Seca. We had a very difficult weekend. Since Assen, where I had a huge crash, I suffered a bit due to my injuries, because I had a fall again in Sachsenring and things did not really went our way. When we arrived to Laguna Seca I was confident, but unfortunately, during the weekend we were not able to have the bike we wanted. It was not until the race when we took the step ahead we needed and which gave us the confidence to do a great race”.

Lorenzo, Pedrosa and yourself are showing a very close performance and you have a level well above the rest. Does it gives the lead and the victories a higher level?
“I competed with those rider during all my career, so I think that the value of the victories is always very high. The three of us, Jorge [Lorenzo], Dani [Pedrosa] and myself had the bad luck to coincide in a very difficult time, one of the toughest in history, in which it is most difficult to achieve victory, and it is certainly a great feeling, a deep emotion when you win. But after competing with them most of my life, the feeling is more or less the same. When you do a race like in Laguna Seca, then the feeling is special, but it was also the same in the first victory in the first race with Honda. It was something special”.

From now until the end of the season, which do you think will be the details that will decide who will be the Champion?
“I could say consistency, but as difficult as it is, I do not think consistency will win championships. You have to be there and win races, take risks. I think that is what might decide the Championship. We are going to do the best job we can every time we get on track, but if one of the days we are not able win, we need to settle for second place, a third or even worse, but we will try to win every time”.

What would you say about your bike and what has to be improve of it? Because in the last races you suffered more than expected…
“We had some weekends that were a bit weird, because in Mugello we suffered a little, because the tyres overheated, which was caused by an excess of grip on the rear. In Sachsenring we tried to reduce the grip, to decrease the temperature of the tyres and that is not the correct direction. In Laguna Seca we followed the same path, trying to avoid the temperature from being too high, but it was not the right direction. We have been just going around in circles to try to take a step ahead to find grip again, to find traction that helps the bike work well, because this is what I think is Honda’s best feature: traction. When we do not follow that path we don’t have a strong feature and that is why we suffered in those races”.

And where do you think you need to improve? How do you feel about your physical problems?
“Now we have a few weeks’ break and I am sure that we will feel much better afterwards, because week after week I did not improve too much. It is something we have suffered, but we had to compete and we did not think too much about it. There are many things I must improve of my riding, also with this bike. I have been learning in the last races, but the lack of experience with the Honda does not help. It will be beautiful to have more experience to know that a certain set-up works in a certain way, and that it is good to follow that path when we lack grip or when it is difficult to turn. With a little more experience maybe we could have even less bad moments, so I think that with a bit more experience we will improve those points, because they were are weaknesses in the last races”.

What do you ask for the second half of the season?
“Honestly, the best thing that can happen is that it is the same as the first half! To arrive with more than the rest to the end of the season is our main objective. I want to achieve even more victories, I want to do my best until the end of the season. The bike is good, is fast, I am riding well, but the problem is that I have very strong rivals that do the same. We will have to wait and see what we can do in the second half of the season, but I am sure it will be a tough championship”.

What are your plans for these free days before going to the Czech Republic?
“I don’t have many plans, just try to recover from my injuries and if I am able to recover enough, then start training again before the beginning of the next part of the season. This year, since Le Mans I have been sick or injured and it was very difficult to find time to train, so it would be good just to get back to the track in full form”.

Vroom Media has just delivered the new brand identity work and web presence for Morrissey Media Consultants, a company specialising in strategy and management for the media, and in particular specialising in digital media.

The identity was specifically devised to reflect a fresh, yet experienced company that deals with the most modern and up-to-the-minute developments in media and media technology, but which is absolutely rooted in an enviable pedigree (many years of dealings with the likes of the Press Association, ITN, Ofcom and Teletext for example), considerable experience and with a completely dependable, personable approach.

The initial design routes approached this mix of pedigree and modernity from a number of angles, and this was eventually narrowed down to options based on an opened-up ‘globe’, refreshing tones of reds, magentas and purples – set against grey typography based on bespoke adaptions to the Democratica font family.

The end result is at once visually arresting and utterly contemporary, but also retains the feel of heavyweight pedigree and trustworthiness, which is fundamental to the company’s brand values.

The identity has already been applied to stationery and document designs, and the corporate website has just launched, with Vroom Media working directly with the client to deliver an online presence that is perfectly attuned to the new design.

We were delighted to be asked to design and build the website for Cerro Vista, a spacious, peaceful villa in the foothills of the Algarve, near the old Moorish capital of Silves.

The brief was to design a site which gave the fullest, most inspirational presentation of helpful client information about both the villa and the surrounding area. Content is clearly broken down, enriched with beautiful photos of the villa, Silves and the Algarve, and provides all information necessary to inform a booking.

The front of the site aims to present all key information in simple, bitesize chunks, as well as to draw the user in with a slideshow of images of the peaceful, cool interiors, and secluded garden spaces that the villa enjoys.

The other main site pages are devoted to complete descriptions of the villa and its facilities, and also to the historic town of Silves, to local attractions of all kinds – leisure, sporting, family – nearby, and to outlines of the whole Algarve culture and to crucial tourist information. This is enhanced with a hand-picked selection of tourism links, and contact page.

The whole proposition is branded with warm Mediterranean colours, and casual typography for an evocative user experience.
The client is delighted with the result, and we have of course completed the work with a full and ongoing SEO programme.

Enjoy this video clip, courtesy of motogp.com, which is a part of an advertising campaign for Turespaña where the three reigning World Champions, Jorge Lorenzo (MotoGP), Toni Elias (Moto2) and Marc Marquez (125), tell us about their passion for Spain. From the places they live to the places they love – and all aspects of food, leisure and living – let these three give you some inspiration (apart from the four GPs!) as to why you should go visit Spain.

We at Vroom highly recommend a trip too – Barcelona’s great, as is Valencia, and also Madrid – not forgetting further afield into Castille la Mancha and Alvaro Bautista’s peaceful little hometown of Talavera de la Reina, or other historic, coastal destinations like the beautiful Tarragona.

So take our word for it – and take their word for it – and go book yourself a trip to Spain to find out for yourself what you’ve been missing!
